I have been a classroom, learning and support, EAL/D and Visual Arts teacher. Also I am a practising artist. I am always looking for creative ways to stretch my classroom budget. My home is Sydney, Australia and I feel privileged to have been able to work full time in education. Here are some ideas I'd like to share with you. I would love you to follow my blog and share your thoughts also!

"Wild Things" by Kindergarten
My Kindergarten students loved the book "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. After sharing the story together, we brainstormed the various features the Wild Things had. We talked about where our Wild Things could be and what they might be doing. I demonstrated how they could draw their own Wild Thing starting with the shape of the head, body and limbs. They had to draw their own Wild Thing in pencil on a coloured background of their choice remembering to make it really hairy! Next they outlined in black marker and cut around the shape. We created a wonderful communal artwork in one lesson. Kindergarten loved this activity!
