I have been a classroom, learning and support, EAL/D and Visual Arts teacher. Also I am a practising artist. I am always looking for creative ways to stretch my classroom budget. My home is Sydney, Australia and I feel privileged to have been able to work full time in education. Here are some ideas I'd like to share with you. I would love you to follow my blog and share your thoughts also!

"Japanese Cherry Blossom" Year 6
This activity was an absolute hit! My Year 6 students were really proud of their finished artwork. Using fine brushes and black ink, the students gently painted the branches using an upward motion, lifting the brush carefully to create finer lines. To create depth, the ink was watered down and branches were then painted behind. Red ink was watered down to create a light pink and the blossoms were dabbed on lightly. Likewise the red ink was further watered down to paint the blossoms in the background. The artwork was painted on small pieces of white paper with paper available to test colour and technique. I will definitely do this again as it really captured their interest.
