I have been a classroom, learning and support, EAL/D and Visual Arts teacher. Also I am a practising artist. I am always looking for creative ways to stretch my classroom budget. My home is Sydney, Australia and I feel privileged to have been able to work full time in education. Here are some ideas I'd like to share with you. I would love you to follow my blog and share your thoughts also!

Mixing colour : Year 1
My Year 1 students had great fun with this activity. They made a rustic palette from folded newspaper and were given three primary colours plus white to work with. Colours could be mixed both on the palette and on the artwork itself, but no water was allowed. After viewing traditional Aboriginal artworks for inspiration, the students made shapes and patterns beginning with lighter colours. When the work was dry, they could cut it along painted lines in several places and collage onto a coloured background leaving a space between the parts created.
